My target 295000 Steps
I'm taking part in the Walk in Her Name Step Challenge in aid of Ovarian Cancer Action
Every year, 295,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer globally. Approximately half of these women will not survive beyond five years. March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and I’m taking 295,000 steps throughout the month to raise funds for life-saving research that will help these women, and the next generation, survive.
Please help me take 295,000 steps, raise £500 and move research forward. #stepforeverywoman
Early diagnosis is vital❗️Sunday 7th Mar
Our goal is to not only raise money but to also raise awareness🚺
Early diagnosis is vital❗️
If a woman’s ovarian cancer is diagnosed at stage 1 she has a 90% chance of surviving for five years or more but by stage 4 survival rate is as low as 4%. Early diagnosis saves lives!
There are 4 main symptoms of ovarian cancer, these are:
🖤 Persistent stomach pain
🖤 Persistent bloating
🖤 Difficulty eating/feeling full more quickly
🖤 Needing to wee more frequentlyShare
Our reason whyMonday 1st Mar
The month of March is known as ovarian cancer awareness month.
In 2020, someone in our family was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and we quickly realised how important early diagnosis can be.
Every year, 295,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer globally. Approximately half of these women will not survive beyond five years.
Ovarian cancer is known as a silent killer as it is difficult to detect early. It can also lead to other family members being tested to see if they have the gene, which can increase the chances of getting ovarian or breast cancer in their lifetime.
Because of this, in the month of March, we are taking part in step for every woman. We are aiming to walk 295,000 steps throughout the month to raise funds for life-saving research that will help these women, and the next generation, survive.
Our aim is to raise £500 and move research forward. Any donation would be greatly appreciated!
