My target 295000 Steps

I'm taking part in the Walk in Her Name Step Challenge in aid of Ovarian Cancer Action

Every year, 295,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer globally. Approximately half of these women will not survive beyond five years. March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and I’m taking 295,000 steps throughout the month to raise funds for life-saving research that will help these women, and the next generation, survive.

Please help me take 295,000 steps, raise £295 and help us make ovarian cancer a survivable disease.

Proving I can do it thinking of my friend Margot and turning bad into good

Tuesday 25th Jan
So far I have recorded over 99,000 steps during January which makes me confident I can reach the target in March. I am hoping I am getting fitter too. So it’s worth doing. Margot’s birthday would have been 18 January so that gave me the idea of getting into training. I would love her to know she inspired me to get moving in one of the worst months of the year in England. She was living in New Zealand away from her Thames house as she needed to be in Auckland for treatment. It was hard because covid restricted visitors when she was in hospital. I am doing it for her in her memory should I say because I would like some good to come out of bad.

Keep on stepping

Sunday 23rd Jan
Still in training mode but doing as much as I can each day. Recording steps does motivate me to do more but gives me less time to read, pick my nose, admire Lola etc. So next month I am going to ease up until the last two weeks or so.

Every little helps

Tuesday 18th Jan
I am running up and down the stairs and walking round the house to practice how to do more than 2000 steps a day in March when the challenge officially starts.

I have set up a just giving page to collect money too. However little or much you give, it will all help the many women who have ovarian cancer now and who will be diagnosed in the future. So I am happy to do this challenge for them. Best wishes my friends
