In memory of my much-missed mum, Irene Masson, I'm taking part in the Walk in Her Name Step Challenge in aid of Ovarian Cancer Action

Every year, 295,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer globally. Approximately half of these women will not survive beyond five years. I lost my mum, Irene Masson, to the illness. March (her birthday month) is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and I’m taking 295,000 steps throughout the month to raise funds for life-saving research that will help these women, and the next generation, survive.

Please help me take 295,000 steps, raise £295 and help us make ovarian cancer a survivable disease.

Hello!

Firstly, Sorry - I've been rubbish at updating this blog!!

I also never sussed connecting my Fitbit (I know - useless!), so I'd sit down every few days, lift the numbers from my Fitbit, and plug them in manually! Good job I'm a honest soul. That's glaringly obvious by some of the shocking low step days!

I have to admit, I was a tad nervous putting in the final numbers tonight, thinking I was sure I'd done it by rough calculations daily, but panicking in case I hadn't! But I DID and I actually passed my target - just!

I also surpassed my fundraising goal of 600 and ended up raising over 800 - all thanks to you wonderful crew!

I just want to say thank you so, so much for all your support. It really does mean the world.

Mum would've been proud!

We break free Thursday!

Tuesday 15th Mar
OK, so, as you can see, the steps have suffered big time during the kids and I being down with Covid.

BUT we break free Thursday and from there I'll be making up for lost time and steps.

Rick's keeping me going!

Wednesday 9th Mar
Hi guys

So, its strike 3 - both kids and me have tested positive for Covid.

Trying to keep the kids amused/refereeing their fighting (!), and getting out has been a no no, so I've been trying to keep the steps from dipping to nothing by doing walking workouts with Rick on Youtube! Fun and fab music. Mini monsters have got involved too.

I'll get the steps back up and beyond next week once we are all free!

Bit of a curveball!

Hi all

Well, Tuesday and Wednesday were really good step days! 

Thursday was lower due to jobs to be done but I'd planned to make up for that on Friday - until my youngest tested positive for covid! Poor toot.

So, for the next week I'll be isolating with him but I plan to get those steps up by doing walking workouts on YouTube!

I'll smash it out of the park once I'm free again!

What a great day to start this challenge! Sun shining, blue skies and birds singing their wee hearts out. I even managed to kid myself that'll be the end of the snow.

Went a good walk with the pooch over the nature reserve. To be fair, he was more interested in the sniffs than the steps, but I was still hitting 10k by 10.30am so I'll smash today's target by night-time.
