My target 295000 Steps

I'm taking part in the Walk in Her Name Step Challenge in aid of Ovarian Cancer Action

Every year, 295,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer globally. Approximately half of these women will not survive beyond five years. March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and I’m taking 295,000 steps throughout the month to raise funds for life-saving research that will help these women, and the next generation, survive.

Please help me take 295,000 steps, raise £295 and move research forward. #stepforeverywoman

Walking for Mum

Wednesday 24th Feb
At the beginning of October 2020 just as we was facing another national lockdown my mum (Hazel aged 60) was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. By accident they found a growth the size of a grapefruit and operated within 3 weeks. After recovering from surgery she started chemo in Jan 2021. With chemo has come some tiredness and her loss of hair but one thing that’s not changed is my mums bright bubbly attitude and her positivity to beat this horrible disease and get back to being her energetic mad self!!!

If you don’t know much about ovarian cancer then have a read. It is one of the most missed cancers there is as it often disguises it self as other less serious everyday conditions and can go undetected until it’s too late. Mum has caught hers at stage 3 so we have a fighting chance but have a long way to go. This March I’m walking for all the women who have been affected by this disease and try and raise awareness- get checked out ladies don’t let symptoms go unchecked and keep asking for a second opinion the quicker you find it the better the chance you have to beat it!
