My target 150000 Steps

I'm taking part in the Walk in Her Name Step Challenge in aid of Ovarian Cancer Action in memory of Susie Fennessy who was taken too soon by this cancer.

Every year, 295,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer globally. Approximately half of these women will not survive beyond five years. March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and I’m taking 295,000 steps throughout the month to raise funds for life-saving research that will help these women, and the next generation, survive.

Please help me take 295,000 steps, raise £295 and move research forward. #stepforeverywoman

Why Ovarian Cancer Challenge?

Thursday 18th Mar
Mid 1980s my sister Penny nursed her mum with ovarian cancer. Sadly she lost her battle when my sister was only in her early teens. I didn't know I had a (half) sister until 2 years ago and I never got to meet my birth mum. I had been fortunate to survive breast cancer but thanks to finding Penny I discovered I had the BRCA 1 gene mutation.  This gene increases the risk of breast and ovarian cancer so following this discovery I had preventive surgery to remove ovaries. I would have never contemplated this had I not found Penny. So together we want to raise money for ovarian cancer and raise awareness. We want to walk in memory of Penny's mum (my birth mum) Susie Fennessy who was taken too soon by this awful cancer.
